I do it my way...

The Story

When I thought about my future after completing my philosophy and literature studies, two things quickly became clear to me. Firstly, an office job is out of the question for me. Second, driving a taxi is also not an option.

Fueled by private strokes of fate, I made a decision: I’m going to be an artist. And so I began the experiment of making my two great passions my profession. While I was quickly able to achieve my first successes as a photographer, it was somewhat more difficult with music. But undeterred I pushed the production of my first album on my own…

As you can imagine, my plan did not meet with approval everywhere. Many couldn’t understand that I just wanted to “throw away” my studies. Would I rather do “something sensible” with more “security”? No, I did not. I understood early on that life is too short to be afraid. I have a dream. And I’m following it. That’s why I was very happy when I was soon offered an internship by two renowned recording studios.

I did my first internship at Horus Sound Studio. An insane time! I learned so much and got to know so many great, inspiring people. My encounter with music producer Fabio Trentini (Guano Apes, Subway to Sally and Donots, ex-bassist of the H-Blockx) had a lasting influence on me. I was allowed to be part of a complete album production. Afterwards I was able to win Fabio to record the bass guitar for my album.

No less instructive was my meeting with recording and mixing engineer Arne Neurand (Guano Apes, Revolverheld), from whom I learned an incredible amount about miking and post-production. I could always go to him when I had questions about mixing my own songs.

Shortly after that I met the internationally renowned sound engineer Hans-Martin Buff (Prince, No Doubt, Scorpions) during my internship at Peppermint Park Studios. I was not only allowed to look over his shoulder while producing, recording and mixing, but also received a lot of helpful tips for my own album.

With the finished album in my hands, however, the difficult insight followed that you can’t do everything (at the same time). My photography business demanded more attention and the music temporarily landed on the sidings. But when I lost almost all my photography jobs in spring 2020 due to the Corona crisis, I seized the opportunity!

The title single of the album My Silent Void was released on May 5, 2020. Unfortunately, after that I had to worry about earning money again. But I don’t give up. There will be more songs. I’m sure…
