About
„In this superficial world full of hecticness and artificiality I wish for sincerity, depth and genuineness. I want to be be honest and open. And feel alive. That’s why I make music …“ Marc Rodenberg
SATELLITE VIEW is the new solo music project of the photographer Marc Rodenberg from Hanover/Germany. In his songs he interweaves the influences of his musical youth (Radiohead, Nirvana, Silverchair, …) with atmospheric and dark Indie-Rock elements. The result: His very own vision of modern alternative rock music.
What is important to Marc: His lyrics are not just an accessory. There are clear words between mysterious pictures. But every line and every word is important. Authentic and frankly, he tells of incisive life experiences. He confidently reveals his innermost wishes and feelings. Because it is important that we talk about it.
SATELLITE VIEW – that is floating melancholy and yearning intensity. A distinctive voice sings great melodies. Bittersweet but hopeful. And what links it all together? The constant search for that one feeling: being alive…

Biography
When Marc thinks about his future after completing his studies of philosophy and literature, two things quickly became clear to him. First: an office job is out of the question for him. Secondly: driving a taxi is also not an option.
Fueled by private strokes of fate, he makes a decision: “I’m going to be a photographer. And a musician.” And so he begins the experiment of turning his two great passions into a profession. While he quickly achieves his first successes as a photographer, it is somewhat more difficult with music. But undeterred he pushes the production of his first album on his own…
At the same time, Marc managed to get two coveted internships in well-known recording studios. In the Horus Sound Studio he meets Fabio Trentini (producer of Subway to Sally, Guano Apes and Donots, ex-bassist of H-Blockx), whom he can win over for the recording of the bass guitar. At the same time he meets sound engineer Arne Neurand (Guano Apes, Revolverheld), who helps him with valuable tips for mixing the first album. The drums are played by drummer Till Richter, who now lives in L.A. as a musician.
Shortly thereafter Marc meets the internationally renowned sound engineer Hans-Martin Buff (Prince, No Doubt, Scorpions) during his internship at Peppermint Park Studio. He is not only allowed to look over his shoulder while he works, but also receives direct feedback and many other helpful tips for his own album.
With the finished work in his hands, however, follows the difficult insight that you can’t do everything (at the same time). His photography business demands more attention and the music ends up on the siding. But when Marc loses almost all of his photography jobs in the spring of 2020 due to the Corona crisis, he seizes the opportunity and plunges into his music with a zest for action.
He takes care of the release on his own. He creates a branding and marketing concept, designs his own logo and creates his first promo self-portrait. He also takes the writing of the screenplay and the cinematic realisation of the first music video into his own hands.
The title single of the album My Silent Void was released on May 5, 2020. Unfortunately, after that I had to worry about earning money again. But I don’t give up. There will be more songs. I’m sure…

Song No.1
My Silent Void
In my first song I tell you about my experiences with the disease “depression”. Many years ago I woke up one morning and immediately felt: “Something is different. Something’s wrong with me.” Weeks of fear and uncertainty followed. I had no idea what was happening to me. Life was slipping away from me. What was bothering me the most? This insensitive emptiness inside me. Finally, a medical diagnosis…
Therapy
But at the time, I had no idea what depression really was. It was very difficult for me and those close to me to deal with it. Through a combination of psychotherapeutic and drug treatment I came out of the first big hole. But before I could leave the depression behind me completely, many years of ups and downs were to pass…
Positive experience?
Today I can look back and speak openly and honestly about my experiences. Because I am doing well. And because I have taken a lot with me from this difficult time. Because without these experiences I would not be the life-affirming and positive person that I am today. So when someone asks me whether I would have liked to have given up my illness, I can only say: Yes and no. But I don’t wish it on anyone…
Why a song about depression?
For one thing, the creative process back then simply helped me deal with the situation.. When everything seems meaningless and empty to you, it helps a lot if you find something that at least fulfills you a little and makes sense.
On the other hand, like most of those affected, it was very difficult for me to make it clear to my fellow human beings how I am, what it looks like inside of me and how it feels to be (clinical) depressed. Through the combination of lyrics and music, I finally had the feeling that I was able to convey this state better.
Why go public?
Although the topic has found its way more and more into the public through affected celebrities (like e.g. Robert Enke), sick people still have to fight unjustly with stigmatisation and prejudices. We all know about common diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, etc. But about the most common mental illness people still like to keep silent.
With my music, I would therefore like to make a contribution to bringing the subject more to the public and the awareness of people. More information and prevention would be helpful for everyone involved and would be an important step towards more mental health.
I also want to encourage and motivate those affected. Even if your own situation often seems hopeless: there are many ways and means that are worth trying. I speak from personal experience…
Lyrics
Stony asphalt, dying sky – a cold frame.
And in between my silent void – everywhere the same.
In the sky a chain of lights – fleeing.
Upside down, where is the time while I just carry on.
Everyday, a shade of grey, coloured moments on my way.
And memory, stay with me, keep me watchful, fight the grey!
And hopeful dreams of freedom and light-heartedness.
And one day it will be all right.
A lifeless haze of senselessness – falling.
The place where you can hear my steps – interchangeable.
The stars above are beautiful – surprising.
A different world, a different truth – you don’t know how I feel.
A long time ago we were in the fields.
The sun above, bright, golden and clear.
Holding my hand you said I’d enjoy the beauty surrounding us
if I were here.
